NBA All-Star Paul George, delivers his fifth Nike signature basketball shoe with a 2021 NBA All-Star edition dubbed, “Play for the Future”. Woven and textile construct the uppers with graphics that represents Paul’s desire to make a positive impact and protect our delicate planet. The hardwood-ready installment sees through to an extremely vivid palette here. Breathable mesh uppers have been inundated with a minty green background and arrive with tonal overlays positioned on the forefoot and the heels. The former see through to synthetic materials while the latter is texturized with scales — a possible nod to the Palmdale-native’s affinity for fishing. More striking details to bring to light include the Swooshes which are coated with a blush hue atop the heels and medial forefoot, as well as the multi-colored laces and rear pull tabs. Additionally, the mid-foot features barely-visible wave patterns which are stitched in white. The PG 5 combines the agile low-top profile Paul likes with flexible Nike Air Dot Weld Strobel cushioning. The full-length Air unit is stitched directly to the upper, bringing the plush, bouncy cushioning right up under the foot—perfect for keeping PG feeling like he’s moving on clouds. Rubber outsole features nubs and circular traction pattern to maximize grip.
