Blurring the lines between staple essentials and avant-garde fashion, Russell Westbrook’s Honor The Gift Label has become one of Califonia’s most street-worthy labels since its founding in 2016. Designed to look a trail running shoe with its rugged utility look, the “Why Not?” .5 features a translucent material on the upper to complement Westbrook’s quick movements, while midfoot bands, an external heel counter, and webbing all work together to keep his foot in place. The half-bootie constructed sneaker uses a cream base with darker cream overlays in suede, the sneaker features an exposed tongue and ankle collar as well. Russell’s RW logo is seen on the tongue, with Honor The Gift branding seen on the heel counter with its flag seen on the tab as well. Materials are off-kilter, too, with everything from nylon to corduroy to felt-like fabrications spotted throughout. Added design details include a large-volume Zoom Air unit at the forefoot of the midsole for energy return atop a trail-inspired outsole for maximum traction.
