Expressing a mix of colors and fabrics, the low iteration of the Air Force 1 features an array of patterns often seen at festival gatherings. Additional detailing comes in the form of Japanese symbols at the heel and insoles, along with tan suede Swooshes and tongue tags. The shape itself is unchanged, only the materials are supplanted with fabrics more festive. The toe, for starters, is laid out in pink, its white pattern floral like what’s found on the eye stays adjacent. The indigo-dyed toe cap and red heel, in contrast, are covered in “Mame,” meaning peas or beans, in prayer of good health. Finally, a white-based, bamboo-covered swatch lays atop the mid-panel, while earthy tan suede Swooshes lay atop in complement to the tongue label. What’s more Japanese symbols round out the design along the heel tab as well as the insole. Nike’s signature Swoosh is made of cherry wood suede, that may represent the sacred Omizutori Matsuri, in which Buddhists burn torches at Todaiji Temple. Finishing details of the Air Force 1 include a translucent sole, red shoelace caps, and a Kanji Logo stamped on the back of the heel tab.
