Nike continues to honour the legendary baseball outfielder Kenneth Griffey Jr., or The Kid, as he is popularly known. The newest Air VaporMax Plus nods to his Spider-Man Catch, as the brand specifically referenced. On May 25, 1991, Ken Griffey Jr. robbed New York’s Ruben Sierra of extra bases with the “Spider-Man” catch. Looking closer, this Nike Air VaporMax Plus features a “Freshwater” theme, but with a few changes. The shoe is detailed with Teal accents and Red stitching along the collar along with Griffey’s number “24” on the heel pull tabs. A spider graphic on the insoles with a Gold hang tag completes the design.
