This Nike Air Griffey Max 1 features the “Freshwater” theme, but with a twist. Utilizing White leather on the upper while Black leather lands on the overlays. Here, white perforated leather uppers work with jet black mudguard overlays and matching straps, while Freshwater green rakes the length of the midsole. Other details include “Swingman” text branding on the tongue tag and “Swingman” logo appearing on the heels. This special edition takes it a step further by adding golden accents on the forefoot Swoosh and the home plate hangtag, while strikes of red are seen throughout the straps, heel-tabs, and other minutia. The heel overlay also features etched markings that mimic the woodgrain seen on baseball bats, while other leathers, both full-grain and perforated, make up the rest of the shoe’s construction. The standout detail is “The Sweetest Swing” logo placed on the insole, nodding to Ken Griffey’s super-fluid, effortless, and powerful lefty swing.
